Check cells from a table screenshot
Compare a converted table with the original image before you download Excel. What the reader keeps, what it leaves blank, and what you should fix.
A converted table is a draft until you compare it with the image. Image to Excel is built for that check: every cell and column name can be edited before you copy or download. This page is the review. The upload steps are in how to convert a table image to Excel. The tool is the converter on the homepage.
What the reader is allowed to change
It copies visible text into cells. It keeps the original language, spelling, dates, and number formatting. It does not translate a header, total a column, or fill a gap with a guess. A blank cell stays an empty string. If a header is merged, each column gets the most specific label that applies to it, repeated rather than left unnamed.
So a wrong cell is something to edit, not a value to “accept because the model is usually right.” If you cannot see the digit in the image, delete it or type it from a better source.
A short review order
- Header row. Column names should match the image from left to right. Rename any label that was split or merged badly.
- Row count. A wrapped line can become two rows, and a faint line can disappear. Add or delete rows until the count matches the picture.
- Amounts and dates. Check separators, decimal marks, and leading zeros. The reader is told to keep them as shown, and you still confirm them.
- The last column and the last row. These are the ones a crop most often cuts off.
- Empty cells. An empty result is correct when the image is empty. Do not let a later formula treat that as zero unless you mean to.
Then copy the cells or download Excel.
When the image is the problem
- Tiny type in a full-screen capture: zoom in and capture the table again.
- Glare, tilt, or a crease: retake the photo.
- Ambiguous pen strokes: fix those cells by hand. See handwritten table to Excel.
- No grid, only a paragraph: the converter can report that no table was found. Crop to the grid, or do not force a spreadsheet out of prose. The general case is table image to spreadsheet.
File type and size are separate from reading quality. The upload has to be JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF, within 3 MB on Free and 30 MB on Pro and Lifetime. A file over the limit or of another type fails before any cells are returned.
After you trust the grid
Send the downloaded file, or paste the cells, only after this pass. The next image starts at the converter. The source pages are grouped on table image conversions.
